Thank you for purchasing a high-quality WAAGEN-SCHMITT product. Your new scales
feature tried-and-tested quality and meet the highest technical standards.
Please read these Operating Instructions carefully before using the product for the first
time, and keep them in a safe place so that you can consult them again if you need
further information.
1.
Start-up
Inserting the batteries:
Open the lid of the battery compartment on the underside of the scales and insert the
batteries supplied (4 x 1.5V AA). Please ensure the correct polarity of the batteries (+/-).
Safety guidelines:
Ensure that no objects fall onto the scales; otherwise, the scales
may be damaged.
Use only a damp cloth to clean the scales. Never use solvents or
abrasive cleaning agents. Do not immerse in water. If the scale's
plastic parts come into contact with grease, spices, vinegar or
any other strongly spiced or coloured foods, please ensure you
clean them immediately. Keep citric acid away from the scales.
2. Operation
Switching on the scales:
Place the scales on a firm, level surface. Press down on the scales' surface for about
2 seconds with a pressure of 500 g to switch the scales on. The backlighting lights up,
the display shows initially "HI", and once stabilized, will switch to "0 g" or "0.0 oz"
depending on setting. The scales are now ready for use.
Note: If, after activating the scales, a weight-value is displayed, touch the TARE button
to set the scales to zero.
Units of weight:
By touching the g/lb
button you can change the country-specific unit of weight (g =
gram / oz = ounce). Please make sure that the scales are set to the weight-unit relevant
to you.
Tare weight function:
Touching the TARE button will set the scales to "0 g". Place e.g. a bowl on the scales,
and touch the TARE button to set the scales back to "0 g". You can repeat this
procedure as often as you like until you reach the scales' max. load capacity (5 kg) is
reached. Once you remove your weighed item(s), the total weight is shown as a minus
value.
Automatic deactivation:
The backlighting of the scales switches off automatically if no weight change is registered
for about 10 seconds. The scales will switch off automatically if no weight change is
registered for about 1 minute.
