Battery Installation
Batteries are purchased separately and customer installed.
WARNING
Batteries can be a lethal source of electrical power and an
explosion hazard under certain conditions. Do not touch the
connector posts. Do not lift the cabinet with batteries installed.
WARNING
Prior to connecting the batteries to the rectifier, ensure that all AC
and DC circuit breakers are in the
OFF
position.
CAUTION
Follow all battery manufacturer’s and locally approved safety
procedures. Wear appropriate safety gear when handling batteries
and connecting them to the string. Two people should lift and place
batteries. Do not wear rings, metallic wrist bands, or bracelets
when working on batteries. Do not allow metal objects to rest on
the batteries or to fall across the terminals.
Refer to the battery documentation for detailed battery installation arrangement and wiring.
Cabinet design includes an isolated and vented Battery Chamber (beneath the Equipment
Chamber). The Hi-Cap RT Solution requires one string of batteries. A battery string consists of
4 series-connected 12-volt rechargeable batteries. A single battery string provides 150 Ahr of
service.
Battery Lead Connection
Following connection of all cells in the string, verify correct voltage with an appropriate meter.
The battery is a positive ground system; battery string voltage should measure 48 VDC to
54 VDC. The battery leads from the power supply can now be connected to the battery
terminals.
The battery leads have been factory connected to the Valere Power System/Rectifier battery
charge/discharge terminals and terminate at connectors inside the battery chamber ready for
customer connection. Battery leads are labeled with positive (+) and negative (–) identifiers.
Refer to
on page 20 for more information.
CAUTION
Verify proper connections using the (+) and (–) labels on the battery
leads rather than the wire color.
