Connecting the reserve to the harness
The reserve and harness bridles must be connected to each other
by means of a suitable screw link (Maillon Rapide 7 mm). The loop at
the end of the harness bridle is edged with coloured tape, and a Vel-
cro grip prevents it slipping round the maillon during reserve deploy-
ment. Fix the end of the reserve bridle at the maillon in a similar way,
using an elastic band.
Caution: Don’t use sticky tape instead of the elastic band for
fixing the bridles at the maillon.
Volume cushion
A small reserve may not completely fill the reserve compartment. This
could mean that there would not be enough pressure from inside the
compartment to hold the parachute release pins and the container
flaps in place. Because of this a cushion (to fill up the space) is held in
the reserve compartment with Velcro. If a large reserve (e.g. a steera-
ble model) is used this cushion can be easily taken out.
