◦ If
LED 3
is off, there is no bus connection.
◦ If
LED 3
is solid green (constant), a bus connection, functioning network,
and Ethernet-link-impulses are found, but there is no activity.
◦ If
LED 3
is blinking green, the connection and communication is active and
working.
◦
LED 4
is not used.

CONNECTING TO USB
You can connect the converter box to a PC via USB (in parallel with the digital
interface) using a micro USB cable. Maximum length for the cable should not exceed
3 m (9′10″). This connection allows the pyrometer to be powered by the PC (no
additional power supply is required). You can purchase a micro USB cable from AE.
☞
Important
When using an analog box, you must use a USB connection to parameterize
the sensor heads.
To Connect to USB
1. Connect one end of the micro USB cable to the pyrometer.
2. Connect the other end of the micro USB cable to the PC.
Connecting Additional Devices
Once the Impac pyrometer is connected to a power supply, you can connect
additional analyzing devices directly to the terminal block of the converter box using
either the digital interface or analog outputs.
Connecting Multiple Analog Outputs
The multi-analog box has a 9-pin terminal block for eight analog outputs and one
common analog ground. As the analog ground is also the return line for all outputs, it
is possible that the analog signals will interfere with each other and lead to measuring
errors. The reason lies in the ohmic resistance of the cable wires causing an unwanted
voltage drop on the ground cable.
To avoid measuring errors, consider the following scenarios when connecting
multiple analog outputs to the multi-analog box.
• All analog outputs are configured the same as either voltage outputs or current
outputs.
Keep the ohmic resistance of the ground wire as low as possible. For example,
you might use several parallel wires in longer cables. This way, potential
deviations can be minimized.
• The analog outputs are configured differently as current and voltage outputs.
