5.12 Saving Real-time Measurements
5.12.1
Saving Waveforms and Harmonics
Real-time data received from an instrument can be saved directly into a
recording session database.
This differs from the process of downloading and saving recorded data, in
that the measurements are stored as the instrument measures them. These
measurements are not necessarily being stored within the instrument. How-
ever, the instrument may be confi gured to record at the same time real-time
measurements are being received from the instrument. In which case, two
copies of the measurements will be stored. One copy is stored on the local
computer and the other in memory within the instrument.
To Save a Real-time Waveform or Harmonic, follow this example:
1.
With the Control Panel open and a connection to the instrument
established, select
Waveform
from the
View
menu, if the Waveform
window is not already opened.
2.
Next, select the
Save
button in the Waveform window. The
Save As
window will be displayed.
3.
Enter the name
TestData
into the File name fi eld and select the
Save
button. If the specifi ed database name already exists, the following
window will be displayed.

This window allows you to do one of the following:
• Overwrite:
Overwrites the previously specifi ed database with the
new sample set.
• Append:
Adds the new sample set to the end of the previously
specifi ed database.
• Select Another File:
Allows you to specify a new database name.
• Cancel:
This will cancel the save operation.
