14. Enlarge hole to fit around muffler exit stinger
holes and extend all the way to the front of the
engine head as shown below. Use a hobby knife
to cut out template as shown.
12. Locate the supplied front air inlet template and
tape to cowl. The front air inlets should be cen-
tered both vertically and horizontally on the en-
gine head. This will allow cool air to pass
through the cowl and into the fins of the engine.
Transfer the template cutout pattern to the cowl
and mark cut location.
13. Mount the muffler to the engine and reinstall the
cowl template. Mark the location of the muffler
exit stingers at this time.
15. Align template with mounting bolt holes in
cowl. Use a felt tip marker to transfer the tem-
plate cutout pattern to the cowl and mark cut
location.
16. Remove the template and use a rotary cutting
tool and sanding drum to cut out the openings in
the cowl.
17. Bolt cowling in place and check fit If the cowl-
ing comes into contact with the exhaust or en-
gine at any point, remove cowling and enlarge
the cutout.
18. Finished cowl installation shown below.
Note:
Aeroworks has found this method to provide
sufficient cooling. It is still important to check
motor temperatures to ensure it is not running
hot. If your engine does run hotter than the
manufacturer suggests, additional cooling
holes may need to be made in the cowling.
