1. Place the unit in a safe area away from combustible
materials. Remove the grill lid and KettlePizza body and
place in a safe place, preferably on the ground.
2. Add charcoal to the grill. A “chimney” (shown below) is
commonly used to light charcoal without the need for
starting fluids.
3. Once the charcoal is at temperature (starting to turn
gray) add the coal to the bottom of the grill body by gently
dumping the chimney. Be careful during this step as
sparks will fly.
4. Take a long spatula, tongs or tool such as a garden hoe
and move the charcoal to the rear of the grill body in a “C”
shape. The goal is to have most of the heat in the rear of
the kettle grill.
5. Place the KettlePizza insert onto the grill.
6. Place the lid onto the KettlePizza insert.
Congratulations! You are now ready to cook some
pizza!
Cooking & Maintenance Tips:
-
Always be aware of the surroundings and safety
hazards. Combustible materials, heavy wind, curious
pets can all be a potential safety hazard.
-
The optimum temperature for cooking pizza is between
600 and 700 degrees F.
-
Try using some hardwood with the charcoal for a
different flavor.
-
When using the pizza pan be sure to heavily grease
the pan with olive oil or “Pam” type cooking spray.
This will keep the pizza crust from sticking.
-
When using a pan, try rotating the pan 90 degrees at a
time during the cooking cycle. This will help maintain
even cooking.
-
A pizza stone and pizza peel can be used in the
KettlePizza oven for a different cooking experience.
When using a stone do not coat the bottom of the
dough with oil – try cornmeal instead.
-
Try different foods in the KettlePizza oven! Using a
skillet you can cook fish, vegetables, chicken and just
about anything you can think of.
-
If your KettlePizza insert should get scratched,
Rustoleum sells a flat back hi-temperature grill paint
that can be used for touchups. It is available at most
hardware stores.
