Remote Interface Configuration
Setting the LAN Host Name
The Host Name is the host portion of the domain name, which is
translated into an IP address.
•
Changing the Host Name will cause an automatic LAN reset.
•
The default Host Name for the multimeter is “A–34410A–
nnn
” for the
34410A, and “A–34411A–
nnn
” for the 34411A, where
nnn
is the last
three digits of the instrument’s serial number representation.
•
If Dynamic Domain Name System (DNS) is available on your network
and your multimeter uses DHCP, the Host Name is registered with the
Dynamic DNS service at power–on.
•
The Host Name is stored in non–volatile memory, and does not change
when power has been off, after a Factory Reset (
*RST
) command, or
after an Instrument Preset (
SYSTem:PRESet
) command.
Setting the LAN DNS Server
The Domain Name Service (DNS) is an Internet service that translates
Domain names into IP addresses. Contact your network administrator to
determine if DNS is being used and for the correct address.
•
If you change the DNS address, you must cycle power on the
multimeter to activate the new setting.
•
The default DNS Address for the multimeter is “0.0.0.0”.
•
The DNS Server address is stored in non–volatile memory, and does not
change when power has been off, after a Factory Reset (
*RST
)
command, or after an Instrument Preset (
SYSTem:PRESet
) command.
Setting a Web Password
If desired, you can control access to the multimeter’s Web Interface
(see
“34410A/34411A Web Browser Interface”
using password
protection. As shipped from the factory, no password is set. Once the Web
server is launched, follow its instructions to establish or change a
password.
