Features and Functions
Limit Testing
The limit test math function applies to all measurement functions except
continuity and diode tests.
The limit test function (
LIMITS
) enables you to perform pass/fail testing to
upper and lower limits which you specify.
You can set the upper and lower limits to any value between 0 and
\
120% of the highest range, for the present function. The upper limit you
select should always be a more positive number than the lower limit. The
initial factory settings for both are “
0
”.

Front Panel Operation:
To enable limit testing: Press
to
display
MATH
. Press
or
as needed to select
LIMITS
, and
press
.
LOW LIMIT
will be displayed, and the multimeter’s second display
line will show the current or default low limit. Use the navigation
keypad to set the desired low limit, and press
.
HIGH LIMIT
will be
displayed, and the multimeter’s second display line will show the
current or default high limit. Use the navigation keypad to set the
desired high limit, and press
. The second display line will briefly
show
LIMITS ENABLED
, then will display a bar graph that indicates the
reading on a scale from
LO
to
HI
. The
Limits
annunciator will also turn
on, indicating that the limits function has been enabled. If the reading
is lower than the set low limit,
LO
will flash. If the reading exceeds the
set high limit,
HI
will flash. In either case, as limits are exceeded, the
multimeter will also beep, if the beeper is enabled.

Remote Interface Operation:
The following command sequence will select
the limit test function, turn that function on, and set the lower and
upper limits.

You can assign a lower limit, an upper limit, or both.
The following commands query the selected lower and upper limits.
