How to Modulate a Signal
Modulation concerning the new compact tunable laser source is also
called digital dither.
The use of dither generally falls into two categories:
• SBS control (or SBS suppression): parameter "SBSC lvl"
• Signaling (parameter "AM lvl") can make use of an AM modulation
signal supplied via the BNC connector on the module's front panel. Use
parameter "External Input" to connect the external input to the laser.
Status Line
The Status line displays "
" (8164x) or "
" (8163x, 8166x) if the
frequency offset doesn't equal 0:
•
Parameter "Modulation State" enables (or disables), SBS Control and
"External Input" enables (or disables) Signaling.
•
The signal supplied via the front panel BNC connector has no effect
unless the AM level is non-null.
