Removing and Replacing the A45 and A46 Reference
Channel Transfer Switches (Option 081)
Tools Required
• T-10 TORX driver (set to 9 in-lb)
• T-20 TORX driver (set to 21 in-lb)
• 5/16-inch open-end torque wrench (set to 10 in-lb)
• ESD grounding wrist strap
Removal Procedure
Refer to
for this procedure.
1. Disconnect the power cord.
2. Remove the outer cover. Refer to
“Removing the Covers” on page 7-6
. Position the
analyzer bottom side up and raise the receiver deck as shown. Refer to
if necessary.
3. Identify the switch assembly to be removed. If removing A45, go to step 4. If removing
A46, perform the following steps first.
a. Remove the A43 receiver step attenuator, if present. Refer to
Replacing the A43 and A44 35-dB Receiver Step Attenuators (Option 016)” on page
7-68
b. Remove the A25 test port coupler. Refer to
“Removing and Replacing the A25 and
A26 Test Port Couplers” on page 7-48
4. Disconnect the stranded control cable (item
①
) by pressing the release button in the
center of the connector.
5. With a 5/16-inch torque wrench, disconnect the three semirigid cables (item
②
) from the
A45 or A46 reference channel switch.
6. With a T-10 TORX driver, remove the four mounting screws (item
③
) holding A46 or the
two mounting screws (item
④
) holding the A45 mounting bracket.
CAUTION
Be careful not to damage the center pins of the semirigid cables. Some flexing
of the cables is necessary to remove the assembly. Do not over-bend the
semirigid cables.
7. Remove A45 or A46 from the analyzer. Observe the

8. With a T-10 TORX driver, remove the four mounting screws (item

) holding A45 to the
bracket.
Replacement Procedure
1. Reverse the order of the removal procedure.
2. Perform the post-repair adjustments, verifications, and performance tests that pertain
to this removal procedure. Refer to
