If the Maximum Milking time is set to a value other than Zero, it will detach the claw at the setting
regardless if the unit is in the manual mode or not.
You may finish milking the cow in manual mode, or at anytime , change the mode back to automatic
by reactivating the manual switch. If, finishing milking in manual mode, you must closely monitor the
cow’s milking to decide the best time to detach. After a reasonable period of constantly lit No Milk
LEDs, it is recommended to detach the claw manually by activating the Attach/Detach switch.
If a cow with milk let-down problems frequently detaches early, you may want to consider milking her
in the manual mode until her milk flow rate is consistent enough to avoid reattaching. In manual
mode, the display will indicate manual and the No Milk LEDs will Turn off when a minimum or great-
er milk flow rate is measured above the detach flow rate. When, after a series of on/off occur-
rences, the No Milk LEDs remain off consistently for a substantial period, you may set the milking
mode to automatic and be fairly sure that milking unit will stay attached and have a normal detach.
Or, if desired, you may milk the cow entirely in the manual mode.
Close observation of milking is required at
any control set to manual mode, since
the milking unit stays attached and continues milking until the user manually detaches the claw if
max milk time is not enabled.
If a cow with milk-out problems experiences a normal detach before one or more udder quarters
finishes milking out, you may finish milking her in the manual mode. Reattach a cow that detaches
early, closely monitor her milking, and manually detach the claw when you have decided she is
milked out.
Reattach-
To reattach to the same cow once the unit detaches to keep the current data, the
operator must first activate the manual switch to place the control in manual mode and then attach
the unit to the cow. Remember to reactivate the manual switch to the Automatic Mode. If the
detaches after the Milk Letdown delay, the assumes a normal detach and the “No Milk” will be on
continuously.
Wash Mode
- The Presto Control can be placed into the wash mode. In parlors when the Presto
Control is connected to the Herd Tracker System, the Presto Control wash mode will be enabled
globally throughout the entire parlor by entering into the wash mode at one detacher (see Herd
Tracker literature for more details). To enable the Presto Control wash mode, with the unit in
detached mode, Press the Manual/Auto switch for 4 seconds. When the unit enters the wash mode
the shutoff valve will open and the cylinder will lower the rope or chain. The display will prompt with
a time, temperature and the word “wash”. To return to milking mode, Press either the Manual/Auto
or Attach/Detach switch.
0:00 – Time-
When the wash temperature reaches the set threshold or above it, the time will start to
increment. This incremented time shows the amount of time the wash temperature was above the
wash temperature. (for adjustments see the ’s set-up) 75.6F – Maximum Temperature (Fahrenheit or
Celsius) The Presto control will continue to display the maximum milk temperature at the meter
either during or after the wash cycle.
