Safety cut-out

Cause:
Battery too large
Remedy:
Restart charging
Cause:
Active accessories using too much power
Remedy:
Switch off accessories and restart charging
Cause:
Faulty battery (e.g. cell short circuit, smell of gas, differing cell temperatu-
res, housing deforming, different liquid levels or liquid leaking, etc.)
Remedy:
Have battery checked. On no account allow charging to continue
Cause:
Selector switch incorrectly set
Remedy:
Correct selector switch setting and restart charging
Cause:
Incorrect charger type for this application
Remedy:
Have battery and charger checked and synchronised
If the battery does not reach a predefined voltage level within a given period, the charger
switches off. Please refer to „Technical data“ for the length of time it takes before the
safety cut-out trips.
What to do in the case of a safety cut-out:
1. Unplug the charger from the mains
2. Disconnect battery connection
3. Determine cause of trip
4. Rectify fault and restart charging if necessary
Errors during
charging
Charger switches off during charging
Cause:
High ambient temperature. Charger overheating.
Remedy:
Allow charger to cool down. Charging will recommence automatically once
the charger has cooled sufficiently
Before the open circuit voltage test, nothing appears on the display
After establishing the battery connection, not all display elements are activated
Cause:
Battery is flat/in deep discharge
Remedy:
Charge a deep-discharge battery
Cause:
Charger leads not connected to correct poles
Remedy:
Connect battery poles correctly
Startability not displayed
After the startability test, the charger changes over immediately to the alternator test
Cause:
Very good battery and/or very high ambient temperature
Remedy:
System in very good condition. No remedial action necessary.
