Fuel recommendations
■
Use clean, fresh, lead-free petrol with a mini-
mum octane rating of 90
■
Buy fuel in quantities which can be used with-
in 30 days (see 'Storage')
■
Petrol with a component of up to 10% ethanol
or up to 15% MTBE (anti-knock protection) is
acceptable
■
Do not mix petrol with oil
■
Only start the engine and let it run in the
open air.

START-UP
IMPORTANT!
Fill with oil before starting up.
WARNING!
Danger of poisoning!
Never run the engine in enclosed spac-
es.
WARNING!
Risk of explosion!
Do not use any starting fluid that is un-
der pressure.
WARNING!
Rotating parts!
Keep the limbs away from moving parts
of the equipment.
IMPORTANT!
Danger of kickback!
Cable starter can return faster to the en-
gine, than the cable can be released.

Before starting to use the engine, refer to the
operating instructions of the equipment
■
Only start the engine in the horizontal posi-
tion
■
Check the oil level
■
Tie up long hair and remove jewellery
■
Do not wear loose clothing
■
Wear sturdy, non-slip shoes
■
Do not use the engine in inclined positions
with a gradient of more than 15°

Starting the engine
CAUTION!
Before starting to use the engine, refer
to the instructions for use of the equip-
ment.
1. Pull out the cable starter briskly, and then al-
low it to wind back in slowly (1-7).
NOTE
The engine has a fixed gas setting.
Speed control is not possible.
IMPORTANT!
Danger of burns!
Running engines generate heat. Parts of
the engine, especially the exhaust, get
extremely hot.

Do not place your hands and feet close to
any rotating parts.
■
Keep flammable objects from the exhaust
and the cylinder area.
■
Allow the exhaust, cylinder and cooling vanes
to cool down before contact.

STORAGE
WARNING!
Danger of fire/explosion!
Do not store the engine close to naked
flames or sources of heat.
■
Before storing the engine, refer to the instruc-
tions for use of the equipment.
■
Allow the engine to cool down
■
Store the engine in a well ventilated location,
not in the vicinity of naked flames or sources
of heat
■
Avoid storing in the following areas:
■
the vicinity of naked flames
■
the vicinity of sources of heat
■
where electrical motors are operated
■
where power tools are used
■
For engines that are stored for longer than 30
days, drain the fuel or protect with a fuel sta-
biliser, otherwise deposits will form in the fuel
system
