Background information
The attenuator which will be determined in the procedure described below should be
placed on the IPUT port because this is the furthest physical point on the fiber line from
the OUTPUT port and takes all connector losses into account.

Be sure that all fiber connectors are clean. A cleaning procedure is described in Appendix

Connect an optical fiber to the OUT port of interface LP1.1 or LP1.2.

measure the received optical power from the far-end transmitter.

The optical power meter must be set to the appropriate wavelength range.
