.
PTx power test
........................................................................................................................................................................................................................
1
Connect power meter to the optical port output being tested.
•
Check LOS alarm on Error Detector.
•
Check that the optical power is within the range stated on the table reported in
Chapter
4
,
“SFP and XFP modules optical characteristics” (p. 4-16)
.

2
Switch off the LASER as specified in
Chapter 4
,
“Standard procedures to turn the laser
OFF then ON” (p. 4-14)
.
•
Program ALS Enabling port [see
Chapter 4
,
“Standard procedures to turn the laser
OFF then ON” (p. 4-14)
].
–
Check that the LASER power is null.
If the “ALS Automatic Restart” option is enabled, check if a power reset is
attempted after approximately 0 seconds. This condition must last approximately 2
seconds.
If these conditions do not occur, replace the optical unit under test.
–
Check if the Tx optical power is null.
•
Repeat the test on each optical unit.
•
Preset the instrument to transmit a signal (based on the type of port used) with the
following requirements:
