PN 8DG08136CAAA
Issue 1 March 2008
3-43
............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
Note:
B&W ports are provided by PIM10GE (on PP20G), 4P2G5SO, 8PSO,
1P10GSO, units.
Note:
DWDM ports are provided by 11GUAR and 11GBAR units [also refer to
“DWDM Commissioning Overview” (p. 3-39)
].
Note:
Insert an X-dB optical attenuator, according to the client/B&W interface used.
CT Procedure
........................................................................................................................................................................................................................
1
Perform a bidirectional unprotected cross-connection between the client and DWDM
port(s) according to the units equipped.
........................................................................................................................................................................................................................
2
Before connecting the VOA, disconnect the Rx input fiber of the DWDM board(s) -
(11GUAR, 11GBAR).
........................................................................................................................................................................................................................
3
Connect the VOA between the OMD MUX output and OMD DEMUX input; the VOA
value must be equal to the total span loss budget.
........................................................................................................................................................................................................................
4
Check the output power of each DWDM port by means of the Power Meter (refer to
Chapter 4
,
“SFP and XFP modules optical characteristics” (p. 4-16)
for power values).
Then connect each fiber to the related XFP Transmitter, and disconnect the other end of
the same fiber from each MUX input.
........................................................................................................................................................................................................................
5
Check that the insertion loss of each fiber is 0.1 dB, then reconnect the fibers.
........................................................................................................................................................................................................................
6
Disconnect the MUX output fiber and check the output power by means of the power
meter.
........................................................................................................................................................................................................................
7
Verify the insertion loss of each channel by connecting the DWDM MUX tributary input
channels one by one, and checking the MUX output power with the power meter each
time.
........................................................................................................................................................................................................................
8
Connect the MUX output (multiplexed signal) to the VOA input and the VOA output to
the DEMUX input (optical loop).
