Equipment Grounding Requirements
The grounding of the PSAX 2300 chassis is provided through the ground lug on the
rear of the chassis. The chassis grounding point must be connected to a common elec-
trical ground to provide proper protection. See ”Grounding the Chassis” on page 24
for grounding instructions.
Cable Management Requirements
Cable management clips are provided across the front of the PSAX 2300 system, just
below the module slots. When connecting the cabling to the common equipment
modules and I/O modules, run the cabling through the chassis clips and if necessary a
cable management system that provides the necessary connector/cable strain relief to
prevent damage to the module connectors.
WARNING:
!
To prevent any damage to the module connectors, do not allow the cables to hang
unaided from the connectors. Use standard cable installation practices to run
and secure the cables through an appropriate cable management system before
connecting the cables to the modules.
Cabling Requirements
Before beginning the installation procedures, be sure to have the following cabling on
hand. Refer to Appendix A for additional cable and connection information.
Note:
Unless otherwise indicated, customers are required to supply the necessary
cables and connections to integrate the PSAX 2300 system into their net-
work based on site planning documents.
Customer Supplied Cabling
The following recommended cabling must be supplied by the customer.
Ground Wire
One 5.3 mm
2
(#10 AWG) stranded wire is recommended to connect the facility
ground to the PSAX 2300 chassis rear panel ground connection. Refer to “Grounding
the Chassis” on page 24 for instructions to connect the ground wire. Verify the wire
type and size with the facility manager and site plan.
-48 V dc Power Wire
For redundant -48 V dc power operation, two pairs of stranded wire, 5.3–3.3 mm
2
(#10–12 AWG) wire, is recommended to connect the system to the facility power
source through the rear-panel connectors. Refer to “Connecting the Facility Power
Cables” on page 25 for instructions to connect the power wires.
