Procedure 10-2 Sample softkey menu
A sample softkey menu is shown below.
General menu functions
General menu functions are functions available to most menus.
CANCEL (F8 or 8)
The Cancel function undoes the last command or instruction entered.
QUIT (F9 or 9)
If you select Quit from the main menu, you are logged out. If you select Quit from
any other menu, you are returned to the main menu.
PROCEED (F10 or 0)
The Proceed function executes a command or instruction. The system always
prompts you to proceed when required.
<Esc>
If the system is waiting for user input and you want to enter a softkey function, press
<Esc> and then the softkey. For example, to cancel or quit a function while the
system is waiting for user input, enter <Esc> <8> or <Esc> <9>. If you enter only
<8> or <9>, the system assumes that it is part of the user input, and will add the
number to the command line.
More
The More function appears when there are more functions than softkeys available for
the menu. The additional functions appear under the more menu.
Note —
Some softkeys toggle between two states (for example,
ENABLE/DISABLE). The toggle position not shown is selected.
