E1 signaling type
Signaling refers to the codes and protocol for call setup, call tear-down and status
information between two devices over a primary rate link. The signaling type defines
how signaling information is exchanged with the far-end device.
The signaling type choices are:
•
transparent signaling (SIG)
•
clear channel signaling (NoSIG)
For transparent signaling, signaling is passed without being tested for compatibility
with the far-end signaling type. For clear channel signaling, a 64 kb/s clear channel
is created for which signaling is not passed.

E1 fault signaling
Fault signaling is the signaling code that the node applies to an interface when the
interface to which it is cross-connected is not available.
The options are:
•
seized
•
idle
•
out-of-service type A
•
out-of-service type B
•
out-of-service type C
•
no trunk conditioning for circuit
All primary rate circuits can be configured to appear seized or idle (default) to the
outside world.
Note —
The SIG_TYPE softkey does not appear if CPSS is connected
to the circuit.
