Installing and removing personality modules
The 2902 MainStreet system is shipped with covering plates protecting the
connectors for Slot 1 and Slot 2. The personality module in Slot 1 connects to the
data interface module in physical position 1 (NMTI logical position M01). The
personality module in Slot 2 connects to physical position 2 (NMTI logical position
M09).
Procedure 5-8 To install a personality module
1
Remove the covering plate and store it for future use. Save the screws because they
are used to secure the personality module.
2
Hold the personality module by its edges, insert it through the opening and align its
connector with the male connector at the back of the mounting position. Gently push
the module part way into the male connector (see Figure 5-12).

3
Finish the installation by gently pushing the module all the way in.
Do not force the module into position; you might bend the pins on the male
connector. If the module does not fit properly, remove it, examine the pins for
damage and try again if there is no damage.
Warning 1 —
Ensure that the power is off before inserting or
removing personality modules.
Warning 2 —
Electronic circuitry is easily damaged by electrostatic
discharge. Wear a properly attached antistatic wrist strap before
handling any electronic component. Handle modules by their edges.
