Preparing for Installation
6.1.
Storing, transporting and unpacking modules
NOTICE
During storage and transportation, ensure that the
aleo modules in the packing units stand vertically
and that every module has a sufficient support sur-
face. Secure every module against tipping. Only
transport aleo modules standing. Horizontal trans-
portation is not permitted.
Only store loose aleo modules so that they are
standing on tapered bases with suitable padding.
Be sure to use adequate padding also between
individual modules.
Avoid stacking packing units at all costs. Stacking
can cause damage to the modules. Also avoid
stacking individual modules and stacking palettes
on which there are solar modules.
When transporting individual modules, ensure that
no pulling or pressure is exerted on the junction box
and the cables.
Please observe the unpackaging instructions on the
module box.
Check the mechanical integrity of each aleo module
prior to installation. Take particular note of possible
damage to glass panes and insulating back sheets,
if these components are part of the respective
module types.
Please check for possible damage to the insulation
of cables, connectors and junction boxes.
If you find any damages, please bring them immedi-
ately to the attention of the supplier or transport
company.
6.2.
Precautionary measures
6.2.1.
General precautionary measures
DANGER
Sparks or electric arcs may occur as a result of
short-circuits or switching operations in photo-
voltaic systems. Therefore, make sure to avoid
the installation of solar modules near easily
flammable solid, liquid, or gaseous materials.
During installation on roofs and other elevated
locations there is a danger that objects may fall
off during the installation process and injure
people or animals. Close-off the respective danger
area prior to beginning installation work and
remove, as much as is possible, all objects from
the danger area.
WARNING
Observe all relevant laws, regulations, guidelines and
standards (state-of-the-art) etc. during installation.
Take particular note of the provisions regarding work
safety and accident prevention.
Only allow aleo modules to be installed by authorised
professional companies in order to avoid restrictions to the
product and service warranty. We strongly recommend that at
least two qualified professionals should be involved in the
installation of a photovoltaic system.
Only install modules in which the glass is
undamaged. A module with defective glass is
irreparable. If the module has already been
installed, it must be replaced.
If the module has already been electrically con-
nected, switch off the current of the photovoltaic
system before replacing the module, see Ch. 6.2.3,
'Precautionary measures in inverters'.
During installation and operation of an aleo module,
ensure that its glass pane(s) is/are not touching
other glass, metal, or any other kind of hard object.
