Maintenance
The following sections contain important information on the
maintenance of solar modules. aleo modules only require a
very low level of maintenance and care.
NOTICE
We explicitly recommend regular inspections and
maintenance so that potential problem situations can
be reliably discovered and resolved.
RECOMMENDATION
We recommend the additional use of system
monitoring in order to quickly detect failures or
problems.
Regular testing of the yields of your photovoltaic
system may help uncover potential problems early
on, therefore securing the best-possible yield for
your photovoltaic system and preventing yield
losses.
For the proper maintenance of your aleo photovoltaic system,
please contact your aleo specialized dealer or contact aleo
Customer Services directly (see Ch. 3.2, 'Product support').
aleo solar recommends carrying out an annual inspection and
more thorough testing and measurements at least every four
years.
10.1.
Inspection
aleo solar recommends carrying out an annual inspection.
This is based on a visual check that includes at least the
following aspects:
cables: condition of the insulation and attachment
firmly attached junction box covers
11
condition of the visible plug connections
condition of the mounting systems in edge areas
degree of module soiling
shadowing situation (e.g. through plants, trees,
neighbouring houses)
check up on the module string plan
12
check of the inverter status messages
check of the annual yield
creation and archiving of the inspection report
Please clean the corresponding components as necessary.
11
Purpose: prevents loose covers from going unidentified and
potentially falling off. For very difficult to access covers, e.g. in
on-roof installations, do a random sample test.
12
For external testers: use a random sample to check
whether there is a module plan and if it corresponds to the
installation.
10.2.
Check-up
aleo solar recommends a thorough check-up every 4 years.
This entails, in addition to the inspection (see above), at least
the following additional tasks:
measuring of the single strings: MPP current I
MPP
,
open circuit voltage V
OC
, output power P
MPP
(PVPM
measurement)
measuring of the insulation resistance R
IS
evaluation of the annual yield and comparison of
the data with earlier measurement values
creation and archiving of the check-up report
Please check, repair, or replace components as necessary.
10.3.
Inspections
Please observe the following inspection guidelines.
10.3.1.
Mechanical inspection
In the inspection, check the mechanical connections to
ensure they are clean, firmly fastened, and undamaged.
WARNING
Do not, under any circumstances, stand or sit on solar
modules. This prevents injuries through possible
cracking, breaking, or splitting of the glass.
NOTICE
Handle aleo modules with care, avoid knocks, and
do not let any objects fall onto the modules ([29],
[30]).
Do not walk or sit on the modules. This not only
prevents injuries, but also:
micro-cracks in the cells and resulting yield
losses
other, potentially serious damage to the cells.
Please also refer to Ch. 4, 'Handling of aleo Modules'.
