10.3.2.
Electrical inspection
DANGER
Take particular note of damaged insulation and
covers of junction boxes that are damaged or
have fallen off.
Do not touch the electrical connections or other
current-carrying parts of a solar module directly
or with a conductive object (e.g. an uninsulated
tool)! There is a risk of suffering a dangerous
electric shock.
Defects can be deadly.
This applies even if the current of the photo-
voltaic generator has already been switched off.
Consequently, be absolutely sure to protect
yourself against the danger of electric shock
during the inspection.
WARNING
First switch off the photovoltaic system so
that you are working on a currentless
system. Please also note Ch. 6.2.2,
'Electrical precautionary measures'.
Solar modules create electrical voltage even
with low exposure to light. In very unfavour-
able situations, the voltage of a single solar
module can be enough to cause an electric
shock ([31]).
Check the electrical connections to ensure they are clean,
firmly fastened, and undamaged. Check also that the junction
box cover is firmly attached

If you detect defects or irregularities in the electrical installa-
tion, document them immediately. Then resolve them as
quickly as possible.
Please also note the guidelines regarding fires in electrical
systems ([15]).

Purpose: prevents loose covers from going unidentified and
potentially falling off. For very difficult to access covers, e.g. in
on-roof installations, do a random sample test.
10.4.
Cleaning
Depending on the environmental conditions, solar modules
may get dirty over time to varying degrees which may cause
reduced outputs.
NOTICE
The glass surfaces of some aleo modules feature
microscopic structures or anti-reflex coatings.
Please ensure that these remain undamaged. Avoid
using cleaning agents that can polish or scratch the
module surfaces.
Avoid the use of strongly calciferous, as well as
distilled or demineralised, water.
Avoid the use of acids, alkalines or other aggressive
cleaning agents.
Do not use a high-pressure cleaner under any
circumstances.
NOTICE
Subsequently applied dirt or water-resistant coatings
can negatively influence the effectiveness of aleo
modules and therefore the power output of the photo-
voltaic system. We therefore advise against the use of
such materials.
RECOMMENDATION
For the cleaning of glass module surfaces we
recommend:
rain water without additives whose temperature
matches the module temperature
a soft sponge or a soft brush
If necessary, use a telescopic rod with a sponge or
a soft brush attached to its head. Such a rod can
also include an integrated water supply.
For stubborn dirt, a mild, non-abrasive cleaning
agent (e.g. neutral soap) or alcohol (e.g. methylated
spirit) can be used. Thoroughly rinse off cleaning
agent residue.
