SAFETY GUIDELINES FOR THE CAR BATTERY
The batteries should only be charged by adults or by children over the age of 8.
• Only adults should move or recharge the battery. Never let a young child do this. The battery is
heavy and contains lead-acid.
• Use the charged supplied to charge the battery. Only use a charger that has been recommended by
the manufacturer. The use of unauthorised charger could run the risk of fire.
• Only use the recommended current transformer with this toy.
• The current transformer is not a toy and should be kept out of the way of children.
• Only use the battery pack that has been specifically chosen, and supplied, for this machine.
• The use of another battery pack may run the risk of fire, a power cut, or serious injury.
• Do not use the battery pack provided with any other product. This could cause overheating, a fire,
or an explosion.
• Don’t use battery powered items, or batteries, near fire or any heat sources. This significantly re-
duces the risk of explosions and injury.
• Don’t open or attempt to dismantle the battery. It contains lead, acid, and other corrosive and toxic
material.
• Don’t open the charger. Touching the exposed wires or circuit could cause an electric shock.
• Avoid direct contact with the head of the battery.
• Keep the battery and its components away from any liquids.
• Battery fluid is corrosive, coming into contact with it could harm your skin or eyes. Battery fluid is
also toxic and can be very dangerous if ingested. If you have come into contact with it, rinse the
affected area immediately and contact your doctor or NHS direct.
• Do not short-circuit the battery pack, this could cause an electric shock.
• Avoid direct contact with the terminals of the battery. This could cause fire or an explosion.
• Protect the battery pack from humidity and water, don’t charge the apparatus in wet and humid
conditions. Charge the battery in a dry environment. This reduces the risk of electric shocks.
• If the battery is damaged or used incorrectly, the contents of the battery may leak. If this happens,
ventilate the affected area and contact your doctor if you begin to feel unwell.
• Don’t drop the battery. This could cause severe injury.
• Before charging the battery, make sure there is no damage or flaws to it, the charger, the wires or
its connectors. Don’t charge the battery if one of these parts are damaged.
• Don’t let the battery run down completely. Recharge it before each use or once a month if the vehicle
isn’t in regular use.
• Make sure the battery is inserted correctly.
• Always put the cover over the battery compartment, as if the battery falls out, it could hurt the user.
• This car has a safety mode: when the car is charging, none of the other functions will work.
• Don’t pick the battery up by the wires or by the charger, this could damage it. Hold the battery by
its casing.
• Certain parts of the car contain lead and are made of lead. Wash your hands after touching these
parts.
• Don’t leave the car out in the rain or strong sun.
• Don’t throw the battery away in your household dustbin.
• Don’t incinerate the battery.
• Dispose of the battery in a specialised recycling bin or centre.
