2.0 General information on W3 series 3 Stage compressors
2.1 General
The W3 Series compressors are three stage , reciprocating type, aircooled, splash lubricated compressors.
The pressure range these compressor operate vary depending on the cooling system and valve heads installed and it ranges
from 70 Bars (1015 psi) to 250 Bars (3625 psi). Do not attempt to modify a compressor to operate at a higher-pressure
range without written approval of Alkin. Failure to do so may result in heavy damage to equipment, injury or death.
Working temperature range of the compressor is
0/+45 ºC
.
The compressor is built with oversize intercoolers and an aftercooler to allow superior performance, longer life and lower
operating & discharge temperatures.
W3 Compressor block is of a three stage and three cylinders design. The cylinders are assembled in a “W” form where 1
st
stage is on left side, 2
nd
stage in the center and 3
rd
stage on right side looking from the crankcase cover side.

The second and third stage compression takes place in the up-stroke of 2nd and 3rd stg steeple piston working in its
crosshead guide and cylinder.
