6.5 EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION
Restricted air intake
Replace air filter element
Oil leaks
Tighten bolts and fittings; replace gaskets.

Replace piston rings
Low oil viscosity
Drain oil; refill with oil of proper viscosity
Piston rings misassembled
If piston rings are upside down, install in proper position.

6.6 OIL IN DISCHARGE AIR

Replace air filter element; check for other restrictions at the
inlet.

Drain oil; refill with oil of proper viscosity (see

Piston rings misassembled
If piston rings are upside down, install in proper position;

6.7 COMPRESSOR VIBRATES
Mounting bolts are loose
Tighten the mounting bolts
Compressor not properly mounted
Level the compressor so that all feet touch the floor.
Motor sheave & the flywheel misaligned Align.
6.8 AIR BLOWING OUT OF INLET
Broken first stage inlet valve
Replace valve strip or disc
6.9 INSUFFICIENT AIR AT THE POINT OF USE
Leaks or restrictions
Check for leaks and restrictions in the piping and hoses.
Restricted air intake
Replace the intake air filter element.
Slipping belts
Tighten the belts
Abnormal Interstage Pressures
Check the interstage pressures and replace the valve where
the pressure is abnormal
Excessive air consumption
a. Limit the air consumption to the capacity of the
compressor.
b. Increase your air capacity with an additional compressor
unit.
6.10 PRESSURE VESSELS DO NOT HOLD THE PRESSURE WHEN THE COMPRESSOR IS
UNLOADED
Faulty check valve.
Relieve the vessel pressure and replace the check valve.
Excessive leaks in the plant piping
Relieve the tank and piping air pressure; repair leaks.

Do not service tank, valves, piping etc. With air/gas in the system. Relieve alla ir before attemting
any repairs.
