9. Thoroughly clean and inspect the oil cooler cover, oil filter mounting assembly, EGR coolant
supply cover, EGR coolant supply port, and the threaded insert.
10. Verify that the oil cooler cover weep hole is not plugged (Figure 10).
11. Install the new o-rings on the new oil cooler, threaded insert, and bottom side of the oil
cooler cover.
12. If equipped, press the threaded insert back into the bottom side of the oil cooler cover.
The threaded insert will be held in place by the oil cooler when it is assembled to the oil
cooler cover.
13. Lubricate the o-rings on the oil cooler and bosses on the oil cooler cover with clean engine
oil or assembly lubricant. Place the oil cooler on a flat/sturdy surface. Align the oil cooler
cover over the oil cooler and press the cover onto the cooler.
14. Install the two bolts and two nuts that secure the oil cooler to the oil cooler cover.
Torque the two nuts and two bolts to 16 lb-ft.
15. Install the EGR coolant supply port onto the oil cooler cover. Install the new seal in the EGR
coolant supply cover and install the cover. Torque the two M6 x 22 bolts to 85 lb-in.
16. Install the new seals in the oil filter mounting assembly and install the assembly on the oil
cooler cover. Torque the five M8 x 20 bolts to 17 lb-ft and the three M6 x 22 bolts to
85 lb-in.
17. Remove the high pressure oil pump inlet screen and install the new one (Figure 11).
18. Refer to the service manual for engine oil cooler assembly installation instructions.
