Lightweight Regis-
tration
The lightweight registration mechanism allows the AT-VP504E FXO to
verify if the gatekeeper is still "alive".
If the "Lightweight Registration" option is enabled:
The timeToLive field is included in the registration
request messages.
The timeToLive field is set to the value of the "Lightweight
Registration" option.
If the gatekeeper sends a registration confirm message
without a timeToLive field, the AT-VP504E FXO does not
send lightweight registration request messages.
If the gatekeeper sends a registration confirm message
with a timeToLive field, the AT-VP504E FXO sends a
lightweight registration request message at a steady
interval. This interval is equal to one-third the value of the
timeToLive field from the registration confirm message.
If the gatekeeper does not respond to a lightweight registration
request message (if a lightweight registration message times-
out):
1.
The AT-VP504E FXO sends another lightweight registration
message.
2.
If the gatekeeper still does not respond, the AT-VP504E FXO
waits 60 seconds.
3.
Steps 1 and 2 are repeated 4 times. After the fourth
lightweight registration message times-out, the
AT-VP504E FXO starts its registration process from the
beginning (as if it had just rebooted).
If the "Lightweight Registration" option is disabled:
The timeToLive field is not included in the registration
request messages.
The AT-VP504E FXO does not send lightweight
registration request messages.
Even if the gatekeeper returns a registration confirm
message containing a timeToLive field, the
AT-VP504E FXO does not send lightweight registration
request messages.
