Verifying the Switch
After powering on the switch and waiting two minutes for it to initialize the
management software, perform the following procedure to verify its
hardware operations:
1. Examine the Switch ID LED. As a standalone switch, it should be
displaying one of the values in Figure 42, depending on whether the
low power mode is on or off. If the LED is displaying the letter “F”, refer
to Chapter 7, “Troubleshooting” on page 85. For more information,
refer to “Switch ID LED” on page 31.

2. Start a local or remote management session on the switch. Refer to
“Starting a Local Management Session” on page 73.
3. Enter the SHOW SYSTEM ENVIRONMENT command in the User
Exec or Privileged Exec mode.
4. Check the Status column. All components should have the “OK”
status.
