Sub-sampling (Guppy PRO F-503B, F-503C and monochrome
CCD models)
What is sub-sampling?
Definition
Sub-sampling is the process of skipping neighboring pixels (with the same
color) while being read out from the CCD chip.
Which Guppy PRO models have sub-sampling?
•
CMOS Guppy PRO
models (Guppy PRO F-503B, F-503C) have sub-
sampling.
•
CCD
Guppy PRO models: only monochrome models have sub-sampling
(only 2x horizontal/vertical/H+V)
Description of sub-sampling
Sub-sampling is used primarily for the following reason:
•
A reduction in the number of pixels and thus the amount of data while
retaining the original image area angle and image brightness
Similar to binning mode the cameras support horizontal, vertical and H+ V sub-
sampling mode.

Note
If
full binning
is activated the image may appear to be
overexposed and must be corrected, if necessary.
