AlphaVision XL/ML keypad Installation instructions
1.
Take the keypad out of the packaging.
2.
To mount the keypad to the wall the front plate must be separated from the back plate. Separate the back plate from
the front plate using a flat screwdriver to release the snap fingers.
Attention:
When opening the housing the antistatic guidelines must be observed!
3.
The RS-485 cable for the keypad can be fed in through opening (A) in the back plate. In situations where a cable duct
(P25) is used the cable can be entered via the rear side (B) of the keypad.
4.
Place the back plate of the keypad on the wall and mark the mounting holes (3). Drill the holes and mount the back
plate to the wall using plugs and screws.
Attention:
Do not fasten the screws too tight, this can cause the back plate to twist!
5.
If wall tamper detection is required (note: it is compulsory for Grade 3 installations) then the knockout (C) in the back
plate must also be mounted to the wall using a plug and screw.
6.
If the keypad is connected to an AlphaVision ML control panel and uses the speakers and microphone option, then
place front plate (including pcb board) on a table and assemble the speakers and microphone first. The speakers
should be mounted in the front plate using the delivered screws. Connect the speaker wires to the white connectors
'SPK'. Place the microphone in the circular recess (D) in the bottom of the fron plate and connect the cable to the
white connector "MIC"
7.
Grasp the front plate of the keypad and connect the cable (RS-485) to terminals (+, A, B, 0). The other four terminals
'MIC' and 'SPK' only apply for an AlphaVision ML keypad that is equipped with speakers and microphone. The
AlphaVision ML control panel must be equipped with a DSP speech print. The four additional wires for'' MIC "and" SPK
"can be connected to the" INPUT "and" SPEAKER terminal blocks of the DSP speech print of the control panel.
Attention:
If the speakers and microphone are not used it is advised to fasten the screws of the terminal blocks
SPK and MIC. Also make sure that all cables are clear of the integrated buzzer!
8.
Set the correct RS-485 bus address setting using the 4-pin DIP switch before power is applied. To do this follow the
instructions in the installation manual of the AlphaVision XL or ML control panel.
9.
Verify that the tamper switch (spring contact) (required for Grade 3 installations!) is present on the pcb board and
make sure that dipswitch 4 is set to OFF so that the tamper switch operates.
10.
Place the front plate back on the back plate. Press the front plate firmly until all snap fingers click into the back plate.
Attention:
From hardware revision 1.7 it is possible to adjust the brightness of the keypad backlight and buzzer
volume. See a detailed explanation further on in this document.
