3.2 Changing the battery
To remove the battery compartment, hold the
instrument in one hand and depress the battery
compartment release with your index finger. At the
same time, pull the battery compart ment out of
the instrument with your other hand, as indicated
by the arrows in the accompanying illustration.
Remove the used batteries.
Only alkaline cells of the type AA /LR6should
be used as new primary (i.e. non-rechargeable)
batteries. If you prefer rechargeable batteries, you
can insert type AA NiMH batteries. The simplest
method is to begin by inserting the two middle
batteries 1 and 2, followed by the outer batteries 3
and 4. (See Fig. 2) If the polarity of the batteries is
mistakenly reversed, the reverse polarity protection
built into the instrument will prevent damage.
