Opacity
Opacity can only be performed in Difference mode.
To activate this function, move the cursor to the
“Opacity” option as described for the “Options/
Index” menu. The instrument then returns to the
measuring mode. All values on the display are set
to zero. To determine the opacity of a sample, use
the
button to measure the sample over the black
background. Then use the Operate button to
measure the sample over the white background.
After measuring with the “Std” button, the opacity is
zero. The L*, a*, and b* values for the sample over
the black background are displayed on the right
side.
After the measurement has been performed with
the Operate button, the opacity and the delta
values between the measurements over the black
and white backgrounds are displayed.
If you would like to store the reading with the “File/
Save/Sample” function, only the reading against
the white background is stored.
