2. Hardware installation
Please note the following when installing the ID Drive:
2.1
Power supply
Power is either provided by the supplied external plug-in power supply or is taken from
the PC’s keyboard using the keyboard adapter (available as an accessory).
2.2 SCSI connection
Please use an appropriate SCSI cable to connect the ID Drive with your SCSI controller
or another SCSI device at your SCSI bus. The ID Drive uses an 50-pin Mini Sub D con-
nector.
2.3 Configuring the SCSI address
Each of the maximum of 8 devices connected to the 8-Bit SCSI Bus must have a
unique SCSI address, also called SCSI ID. The SCSI address of the ID Drive is configured
with the
Switches 1 to 3
as shown in the table:
1 = Switch ON (down)
0 = Switch OFF (up)
To avoid conflicts with other SCSI devices, make sure that each device has its own
unique SCSI ID.
➜
Note:
the SCSI controller itself is also a SCSI device and usually has the
SCSI ID 7. An internal SCSI hard disk often has the SCSI ID 0.
