User Manual ID Drive  1.2

5

2.4 SCSI termination

The SCSI devices which are located at the two ends of the SCSI bus must be termina-

ted. All other devices must not be terminated.

The ID Drive should be always the last device in the SCSI bus. Therefore the SCSI ter-

mination should be always on.

Switch 6

enables or disables SCSI bus termination on the ID Drive as follows:

Switch 6

Termination on*

Switch ON (down)

Termination off

Switch OFF (up)

* = Factory setting

2.5 Terminator power

One of the SCSI devices must provide the power supply for the termination, the so-

called terminator power.

Switch 5

is used  to enable or disable  the  terminator power for  the ID Drive. This is

normally unnecessary because terminator power is supplied by the SCSI controller.

If  the  SCSI  controller  or  the  other  SCSI  devices  do  not supply  terminator  power,

enable it as follows.

Switch 5

Terminator power on

Switch ON (down)

Terminator power off*

Switch OFF (up)

* = Factory setting

2.6 Factory settings

The SCSI ID is 5 (Switch 1 = ON; Switch 2 = OFF; Switch 3 = ON).

Terminator power (Switch 5 = OFF) is disabled.

Termination (Switch 6 = ON) is enabled.

Switch 4 is reserved (Switch 4 = OFF).
