The Nios system can then interface to each of the peripherals being tested. The Nios II
target interprets and executes pre-defined commands and tests issued by the BTS host
application. These commands test the Stratix II Memory Board 2 development board’s
User I/O and Nios features.
The BTS host application consists of a TCL-based graphical user interface (GUI) with
various input methods to initiate tests, and report results. The BTS GUI for the S2MB2
development board consists of three main tabs, and three message windows for reporting
test results. The first tab is the Introduction tab. This tab includes basic information and
instructions about the available tests, see Figure 5.

The second tab presents the interface to test the User I/O. This interface includes the
board’s LEDs, User I/O, two seven-segment displays, and the User pushbuttons. See
Figure 6.
