Calibrating the seed rate
When calibrating the seed rate, the later field pass is simulated. The metering roller speed required to
spread the desired seed rate is calculated [kg/ha].
The metering roller speed is calculated from the simulated area (e.g. 1/40 ha) and the weight [kg] of
the collected metered material.
Always calibrate the seed rate
during the initial operation
when changing the seed type
if the seed type is identical, but the grain size, grain shape, specific weight and dressing are
different
after replacing the metering roller
if the hopper takes more/less time than expected to empty. The actual seed rate then does not
correspond to the seed rate determined by the calibration test.
During calibration, the metered material is
collected in a carriage (Fig. 52/1) under the
metering unit.
