NOTES
Bacon
Chop on LOW for 5 seconds,
then PULSE to desired
consistency
Break crispy drained bacon into 1 inch
pieces
Baking chocolate/chocolate
chunks/chips
PULSE to desired consistency
Chop no more than an ounce at a time.
For best results, chill chocolate for 3-5
minutes in freezer before chopping. Cut
baking squares in ½ inch pieces before
chopping
Bread for breadcrumbs
PULSE to break up, then process
on LOW continuously until
desired crumb size is reached
(no longer than 30 seconds at a
time)
Use day old, hard bread for dry crumbs,
fresh bread for moist crumbs, add 1 tsp
butter per slice after crumbs have
started to form and process to combine
and coat.
Butter
PULSE to desired consistency
Cut in ½ inch pieces. Best at room
temperature. Process up to ¾ cup at a
time
Celery and carrots
PULSE to desired size
Cut into ½ inch pieces
Hard cheese (parmesan,
asiago, romano, etc.)
PULSE 10 times, then process
on LOW to desired consistency
(no longer than 30 seconds at a
time)
Cut into 1/2inch pieces. Remove from
refrigerator 20-30 minutes beforehand.
Up to 3 ounces at a time
Soft cheese
PULSE to break up, process on
LOW to cream
Chill cheese up to 30 minutes
beforehand
Garlic
PULSE to chop, process on LOW
for fine chop
Peel cloves before chopping. Scrape
sides and bottom
Onions, green onions,
shallots, scallions,
horseradish, fresh ginger root
PULSE to desired consistency
Peeled, trimmed and cut into ½ inch
pieces
Cinnamon sticks, nutmeg,
other hard spices
PULSE 5 times, process on LOW
continuously unitl finely
chopped (no longer than 30
seconds at a time)
Break into pieces no larger than ½“
Cookies, graham crackers or
macaroons
PULSE 5 times, process on LOW
continuously unitl finely
chopped (no longer than 30
seconds at a time)
Hard cookies only, ½ inch or smaller
pieces, buttered crumbs add 1 tsp butter
per cracker or or every 3 cookies
Fruits; cooked, fresh, frozen
or thawed
PULSE to break up, then process
on LOW until desired
consistency (no longer than 30
seconds at a time)
Cooked fruits may be processed for baby
food or puree, add liquid for
consistency, sugar to taste
