Installing the Equipment

The following procedures are general steps for a typical installation. For specific instructions, 

see the installation and configuration guide (part no. 122146-000) available on the UCT 

installation CD or in Technical Documents of  your website account.

Typical Installation

  Mount 

SDT16-SAT:

Run one u-bolt around the 

pole, through a pipe bracket, 

and then through the top 

mounting bracket.

Thread a nut onto each end of  

the u-bolt and tighten each nut.

Repeat steps 

a

 and 

b

 for the 

bottom mounting bracket.

  Install the 

solar panel

:

Connect solar panel to 

mounting bracket.

With the glass panel facing 

south, run the u-bolt around 

the pole, through the pipe 

bracket, and then through the 

mounting bracket.

Thread and tighten a nut onto 

each end of  the u-bolt.

Satellite 

Terminal 

Battery

 Install 

satellite terminal

Connect terminal to mounting 

bracket.

With terminal facing southeast 

and with an unobstructed view 

of  the sky, run the u-bolt 

around the pole, through the 

pipe bracket, and then through 

the mounting bracket.

Thread a nut onto each end of  

the u-bolt and tighten each 

nut.

  Install the 

battery

Install the battery bracket.

Place the battery on the 

bracket, but do 

not

 connect 

battery cable yet.

 Thread 

cables

Thread the solar panel, satellite 

terminal, and input cables 

through the water tight fitting 

at the bottom of  the 

SDT16-SAT.

Connect 

wires

 to proper 

locations. See callouts in 

Cable 

Connections

 figure above.

Connect 

wires

 from the unit 

to your device.

 

Warning

: If  wires will be 

buried or covered, use conduit 

to protect the wires. 

Dress cables using provided tie 

wraps and adhesive tie wrap 

holder.

  Tighten the plastic nut on the 

water tight fitting.
