Signal Processor
LMG MkII
5.3 System Communications Timing Data
5.3.1 Parameter update rate
All parameters available to the user are updated on a <100 ms cycle.
NOTE
Heavy use of the serial port may interfere with the update and may stop
parameters being refreshed.
5.3.2 Command response time
This is the time taken between the end of the last character of a command
and the beginning of the first character of the serial cards reply. It is the time
taken by the serial card to process a command. This time is independent of
the selected baud rate.
Some variability is present due to the following:
1) the processing required by a particular command
2) the time taken by processor housekeeping
All commands are serviced within 30 ms.
5.3.3 Command reply time
This is the time taken by the serial cards reply. It is directly related to the
selected baud rate and the number of characters in the reply.
5.3.4 Inter-command timing
This is the time between the end of the last character of a command received
by the serial card, and the end of the last character of its response i.e. the
period when the serial card is unable to take a command because it is still
processing a previous one.
This is the command response time + command reply time.
For RS485, assuming a reply at 20 characters maximum;
