Amico Diagnostic Incorporated
Intended Use:
Amico blood pressure cuffs are intended for use with manual and automated noninvasive
blood pressure measurement devices.
Warnings and Cautions:
A warning statement in this manual identifies a condition or practice which, if
not corrected or discontinued immediately, could lead to patient injury, illness, or death.
WARNING:
Intravenous Systems (IV) – Do not connect cuffs with luer connectors to intravenous
fluid systems or air may enter patient.
WARNING:
Only use the cuff when the index line falls within the size range indicated on the cuff,
otherwise erroneous readings may result.
WARNING:
If index line or size range markings are not visible, do not use the cuff.
WARNING:
Do not allow the cuff to remain on the patient for more than 10 minutes when inflated
above 10 mmHg. This may cause patient distress, disturb blood circulation, and/or contribute to the
injury of peripheral nerves.
WARNING:
Do not apply cuff to delicate or damaged skin. Check cuff site frequently for irritation.
WARNING:
Do not apply cuff on any limb where intravascular access, or therapy, or an arteriovenous
(A-V) shunt is present, as temporary interference to blood flow could result in injury to patient.
WARNING:
Do not apply cuff to limbs used for IV infusion.
Cuff Markings
Arm Circumference:
Indicates the size range
of the upper arm that the cuff is to be used on.
Sizing Icons:
Indicates the size of the current
cuff and indicates other sizes available. If the
current cuff is too large or too small, refer to
the sizing icons to help identify which cuff size
should be tried next.
Artery Marker:
Used during positioning of the
cuff to align with the brachial artery.
Size Range:
The index line must fall within
these range markers during application of cuff,
otherwise an alternate cuff size must be used.
Index Line:
Used with size range markers to
confirm correct cuff size is being used.
Operation
Application of Cuff:
1. Wrap the cuff over the bare upper left
arm, making sure the artery marker on the
cuff is position over the brachial artery.
Allow approximately 1" (2 – 3 cm) of space
between the bottom of the cuff and the
elbow crease.
2. Wrap the cuff snugly around the arm
allowing the hook and loop adhesive to
engage. Verify that the cuff’s index line falls
within the cuff’s size range. If the index line
falls outside the size range, remove cuff and
use the appropriate cuff size for the patient’s
arm circumference.
