Section Ten: Splice Trays
Splice cassettes sit in the center of the splice tray and stack together on top of one another. Splice trays are
surrounded by four routing spools that manage slack storage. Splice cassettes hook together and are secured
on the panel with Velcro bands. The number of splice cassettes will depend on the number of connectors.
Splice trays come assembled when ordering patch and splice configurations.
The following installation instructions refer to the C2X 4RU, 3RU and 2RU splice trays.
1. Attach a Velcro zip-tie band at the front and rear center tie-down slot on the splice tray.
a. Slide the band through the tie-down slot and into the zip-tie opening at the end of the Velcro band.
b. Tighten the band to the slot.
c. Repeat the process at the opposite side, attaching the Velcro band to the splice tray
’s tie-down slot.
2. Place the first splice cassette in the center of the tray (long side of the cassette toward the front of the
splice tray) between routing spools, tie-down slots and metal tabs. There will be a small amount of space
between the metal tabs and tray.
3. Place the next cassette on top of the first cassette. Each side of the cassette has two tabs that snap into
slots securing it to the tray below. Snap cassettes together.
4. Repeat step 3 for the remaining cassettes.
5. Pull each Velcro band up and over the stacked splice cassettes and attach them together to secure the
cassettes to the splice tray.
