6. Make sure the RJ-45 connectors have been correctly installed on the PHASTLink cables and
insert the RJ-45 connectors in the RJ-45 jacks on the back of the PLL-SW10. Make sure the
connectors are fully seated in the jacks.
7. For optimum performance, we recommend the installation of a double 120-ohm terminator in
one of the RJ-45 jacks of the last device (or the only device) in a chain of PHASTLink
devices. To build a double 120-ohm terminator:
a. Install a 120-ohm resistor between pins 1 and 2 of an RJ-45 connector. See Figure 4 for
RJ-45 pin numbers.
b. Install a 120-ohm resistor between pins 7 and 8 of the same RJ-45 connector.
Note: Use ¼-watt or larger resistors.
8. Make sure there is a minimum 0.25-inch gap between all high- and low-voltage components.
9. Remove the plastic face plate and mount the PLL-SW10 in the junction box.
10. Screw the PLL-SW10 to the junction box through the mounting slots.
CAUTION!
To avoid damaging this device and voiding the warranty:
•
DO NOT connect the ground wire (green) or the 3-way control wire (blue) to the hot, load,
or neutral wires.
•
DO NOT short the load wire (red) to the ground, common, or 3-way control wires.

Note: For multi-gang installations, break off the metal tabs on the four corners of the metal
heat sink. The tabs on the outer-most devices may be left intact. Up to five PLL-SW10
units can be mounted in one multi-gang junction box without de-rating the load capacity.
Troubleshooting
Problem: LED does not come on at power-up.
1. Check the voltage across the Hot and Common wires to make sure the device is getting
power (should be 120VAC).
2. Make sure the 3-way Control wire is not shorted to Ground. If this wire is shorted, the device
may appear in Landmark Designer, but it will not operate via the button.
Problem: Device works, but does not appear in Landmark Designer.
1. Check the PHASTLink cable.
