Master System Audio Settings
All Sega 8-bit home consoles, from the SG-1000 to
the Master System II, come with an original or built-
in recreation of the 4 channel TI SN76489 PSG.
The Japanese Mark III supported an add-on FM
Unit which included a Yamaha YM2413 9/6+5
channel 2-Operator FM Synthesis sound chip.
The Japanese Sega Master System came with
the YM2413 added to the console. The YM2413
upgrade was never officially released outside
Japan. Many games support FM audio, even some
games which were released only outside of Japan.
All audio on the original 8-bit systems was mixed
and output in mono. The Channel Levels allow each
channel of the PSG to have its volume adjusted
independently and divides the YM2413 channels
in half. The Channel Panning allows you to give
stereo separation to the audio.
The default Channel Level is 60 for all sliders and
the default Channel Panning is 0 for all sliders.
Default Cartridge Audio is 90.
