MODE OF OPERATION IS CHOSEN, ONCE THE INCH BUTTON IS PRESSED, WHICH ENGAGES THE
INCHING CLUTCH
THE SEAMING TURRET WILL START TO ROTATE. IF THE FILLER DRIVE
CLUTCH IS ENGAGED AND
THE INCHING MECHANISM IS SWITCHED TO THE REVERSE
DIRECTION, THE INCH CLUTCH IS
ENGAGED, THIS ACTION WILL DROP OUT THE FILLER
DRIVE CLUTCH.
VARIABLE SPEED INCHING MECHANISM SYSTEM OPERATION
REVERSING STARTER AND MOTOR OPERATION
THE DIRECTION OF THE 1/2 HP MOTOR WILL BE SWITCHED WITH THE FORWARD AND REVERSE
SELECTOR, BY ENGAGING THE REVERSING STARTER. MOUNTED NEXT TO THE MOTOR IS THE
VARIATOR TO ADJUST THE SPEED OF ROTATION.
INCHING MECHANISM CLUTCH OPERATION
THE ELECTRICALLY OPERATED 24VDC STATIONARY FIELD TOOTH CLUTCH IS RATED AT 350 FT-
LB. OF TORQUE. THE CLUTCH IS ENGAGED BY THE INCH BUTTON BEING PRESSED, FROM
EITHER
THE PENDANT STATION OR FROM THE OPERATOR INTERFACE.
INCHING MECHANISM CONTROL LOGIC OPERATION
THE LOGIC TO DO THE SWITCHING IS INTERLOCKED WITH THE MAIN DRIVE CIRCUIT WHICH WILL
BE DROPPED OUT WHEN THE INCH MODE IS CHOSEN. USING THE LOGIC FOR INCHING FROM
THE
PENDANT STATION, THE INCH MOTOR WILL BE RUNNING IN THE DIRECTION CHOSEN.
ONCE THE
INCH BUTTON IS PRESSED, THERE IS A SHORT TIME DELAY BEFORE THE CLUTCH
WILL ENGAGE.
THE PRESET BUTTON ON THE OPERATOR INTERFACE IS USED FOR WHEN THE FILLER DRIVE
CLUTCH IS DISENGAGED AND THAT THE SEAMER HAS NOT BEEN ROTATED. THE LOGIC WILL
ENABLE THE INCH CLUTCH TO ENERGIZE, SO THE FILLER DRIVE CLUTCH CAN BE ENABLED.
FILLER DRIVE / SEAMER SAFETY CLUTCH SYSTEM
OPERATION AND CONTROL LOGIC FOR 180S SEAMERS
THE CONTROL COMPONENTS FOR THE OPERATION OF THE FILLER DRIVE CLUTCH SYSTEM
CONSIST OF THE FOLLOWING; ELECTRICALLY OP-
ERATED 24VDC STATIONARY FIELD TOOTH CLUTCH,
AND A STANDBY POWER SUPPLY WITH A BATTERY
BACKUP SUPPLY.
FILLER DRIVE / SEAMER SAFETYCLUTCH
GENERAL INFORMATION
THE FILLER DRIVE CLUTCH SYSTEM IS EMPLOYED
AS A MEANS OF MAINTAINING THE FILLER AT-
TACHED TO THE DRIVING SEAMER. TO MINIMIZE
THE DAMAGE TO THE SEAMER, THIS SAFETY
CLUTCH WILL DISENGAGE AND SAFELY DISCON-
NECT THE FILLER FROM THE SEAMER. BY VARYING
THE HOLDING VOLTAGE TO THE SAFETY CLUTCH,
THE TORQUE CAPACITY CAN BE VARIED, AND WHICH
IS REQUIRED TO RELEASE THE FILLER. THE PLC
CONTROL LOGIC WILL SWITCH FROM THE ENGAGE
VOLTAGE TO THE HOLDING VOLTAGE. A PROXIMITY SENSOR MOUNTED IN THE FILLER DRIVE
CLUTCH HOUSING, MONITORS THE ENGAGEMENT OF THE CLUTCH.
