NGINE CONTROLS AND INSTRUMENTATION
The engine controls and the instrumentation will vary depending on the engine’s brand
and model, thus it is covered in the engine owner’s manual. Refer chapter 3.10 for typical
locations of controls and instruments.
Gas and gear throttle
This control is used for controlling the gear and has 3 positions (forward, neutral and
backward). To shift it in neutral while the engine is running, the engine rpm must be at
idle. In neutral, there is a lock button to allow the rpm to increase, for instance for
engine warm-up or tests. Refer engine manual for further information on gas and gear
throttle.
Power trim and tilt
At one side of the tip of the throttle handle, there are 2 buttons. One raises the engine,
and the other lowers the engine. This function is a combined trim & tilt function.
The power tilt (power lift) allows you to raise and lower the engine for trailering and
launching the boat and keeps the engine out of the water while mooring at the port. The
