2.4.2.1.4
Cleaning Procedure
1.
Remove loose particles on the mating surfaces, threads, and similar surfaces using low-pressure compressed
air. Avoid forcing dirt down into the connector by applying the forced air at a slight angle.
2.
Use only isopropyl alcohol 90% for cleaning the connector parts. Clean the threads of the connector with a
narrow-tipped lint-free cotton swab dampened with isopropyl alcohol 90%.
3.
Clean the mating plane surfaces and connector threads by gently moving the cotton swab around the center
pin. Do
not
touch the center pin.
2.4.2.2
Mating 7-16 DIN Connectors
Perform a careful inspection of the connector and if necessary, blowout or clean any particle matter out of the
connector.
Next, carefully but firmly push the male 7-16 end of the device or adapter straight into the female 7-16
receptacle of the connector. See Figure 2-4.
Care must be taken to ensure that the connectors are aligned when interfacing or the connector bodies may be
damaged. Be sure that the connector is fully seated before tightening the connecting nut of the male 7-16
connector. Once interfaced, hold the body of the device or adapter to be attached, and hand-tighten the
connecting nut.
