Although your subwoofer comes with high level inputs and outputs these are ideally
only used for older amplifiers or receivers which do not have the sub-out facility. If
you do have this facility, then connect the subwoofer from sub out on the
amp/receiver to either of the line inputs. In some circumstances you will notice an
improvement in the subwoofer’s performance if you use a single line out to a double
line in from the amp/receiver to the subwoofer. These connections are readily
available from all hi-fi shops of any note. The line output allows you to connect a
second subwoofer should you desire to do so. Simply run another wire from the line
outputs to the line input or line outputs of the second subwoofer. If you are using a
second subwoofer it is recommended that you place them on either side of the room,
roughly in line with the tower/front speakers and at least one metre clear of a CRT
television receiver.
Please note that although this subwoofer is fitted with a phase control it is highly
unlikely that you will need to adjust it. Try, with only the subwoofer operating, to
rotate the knob and settle on the setting which gives you the most/the best bass, i.e.
when it is in phase. The factory setting is correct in 99% of all cases. Do avoid
playing with only the subwoofer operating for extended periods of time as this can
cause damage to the amplifier and/or the speaker drive units.
