CONNECTION AND OPERATION OF
THE FLUEGAS PROTECTOR
The water heater has a device that stops the gas supply to the burner and hence stops heater
operation if the chimney is partially or totally obstructed.
This device is made up of a thermostat (
fi
gure 7/1) set at 70°C ± 3, fastened to the edge of
the
fl
ue gas hood and connected via an electric cable to the electronic card. This card, on
activation (opening) of the thermostat, opens the electric circuit to the gas valve which then
cuts o
ff
the gas supply.
This equipment is a part of the
fl
ue gas hood kit supplied with the water heater, and it must be
installed in compliance with the following instructions:
ELECTRIC SUPPLY
For greater safety, have the electric
system carefully checked by quali
fi
ed
personnel. The water heater manufac-
turer is not responsible for any dama-
ge caused by failure to connect the he-
ater to an e
ffi
cient grounding system
or by supply anomalies.
Have the system checked in order to ascer-
tain that it can supply the electric rating taken
by the water heater, as indicated on the type
plate, and that the cable section is su
ffi
cient
for said rating (we suggest cable type H03
VV-F 3x1). The connection to the electric sup-
ply must be made using a permanent cable
(not a plug) and have a two-pole switch with
contact opening distance of at least 3 mm.
The water heater operates with alternating
current as shown in the Technical Data Table
(ref. paragraph 3) which Table also shows the
maximum electric rating.
Replacing the electric supply cable:
If you replace the electric supply cable, use
only cables with the same characteristics,
and operate as follows:
• same characteristics, and operate as fol-
lows:
• Unscrew the four screws that fasten the
control panel,
• Slacken the two cable fastener screws,
• Slacken the screws on the terminal strip to
which the supply cable is connected,
• Take out the supply cable,
• Fit the new cable, passing it through the
cable grommet and in the cable fastener,
• Fasten the cables to the terminal strip as
follows:
- Yellow/green cable to the terminal marked
with the grounding symbol,
- Blue cable to the terminal marked with the
letter “N”,
- Brown cable to the terminal marked with the
letter “L”,
• Re
fi
t the control panel using the four faste-
ning screws.
Polarised electronic card.
It is essential to respect the phase/neutral connection (L/N). If there are ignition pro-
blems, a possible cause may be incorrect polarity (L/N). In this case, you must invert
the connections of the supply cable to the two pole switch.
